    Jugendphase endet früher, das Erwachsenenalter beginnt später.
    In der US-amerikanischen Entwicklungspsychologie hat sich aufgrund dieses relativ
    langsamen und komplexen Übergangsprozesses vom Jugendlichen zum Erwachsenen der
    Begriff des „heraufziehenden Erwachsenenalters“ (emerging maturity) etabliert, wobei in
    (post-)modernen Gesellschaften zwei wichtige tendencies zu beobachten sind: Einerseits ist eine
    Akzeleration der körperlichen Entwicklung in der Pubertät festzustellen, welche gleichzeitig
    die psychosoziale und psychosexuelle Entwicklung beschleunigt, andererseits kommt es zu
    einer Retardation der finanziellen Selbstständigkeit durch einen Anstieg höherer
    Bildungsabschlüsse (Oerter & Montada, 2008). Zwar hat sich der Postadoleszente in
    soziokultureller Hinsicht bereits verselbstständigt, jedoch genießt er noch keine
    wirtschaftliche bzw. finanzielle Unabhängigkeit – ein Phänomen, das Chisholm und
