    Dans Aubade à los angeles folle, un ancien port, enrichi par los angeles traite des nègres, est remodelé en ville salubre et moderne par une municipalité progressiste. Quelques maisons pittoresques de jadis subsistent encore, dont celle d'une affreuse vieille négresse en haillons. Le narrateur et ses amis décident, par jeu, d'aller donner une aubade à l. a. vieille et l'on voit apparaître un rapid à los angeles fenêtre une merveilleuse créature. Les garçons se précipitent à l'intérieur de l. a. maison, mais n'y trouvent que l. a. vieille au milieu de ses haillons.
